During a moment of respite, the girl looked up at the king. She recalled his invitation and heard those words again in her heart, “do you want this?” She answered him, “yes, yes, I do want to marry you.” The king smiled at her. It was her first real “yes” to his call. The girl had always felt it. She always desired it, but she was never of age to be able to make the commitment to him. But this was the first time he asked, and she could answer will all her will. In that moment, he revealed all his kingdom and love to her and she said, “yes, I do want this…yes.”
So even in the midst of battle, within the king’s court there was much rejoicing. She longed to tell her fellow soldiers. It would have to wait. One day she would be able to tell them.
